 ☄ First Impressions ♚ VISUAL: At first glance the obvious thing to notice about Sal is his mask. There's a crack through it that makes a divide between the right eye and the rest of the mask, that part being slightly darker than the rest. Particularly observant people might notice that his right eye isn't as coordinate with his left. That's because it is a glass eye. His ears are also pierced. ♚ FASHION: His fashion sense is incredibly experimental. In canon he's mostly seen wearing a black sweater, bright red pants, and blue sneakers, but his favored hairstyle are the pig tails and there are pictures of him wearing a bright yellow sundress to a wedding, for example. Sal's style doesn't lean in any particular direction as he will try out all sorts of things to figure out what he likes best and is not limited by clothing for specific genders. Like I said, very experimental. ♚ DEMEANOUR: He's very small for his age (regardless of canon point, at 17 he looks 13, in his 20's he looks 17 — though he is 24 at this current canon point) and appears fragile, giving off a very nonthreatening presence. That is of course unless you're threatened by the constant emotionless face of his prosthetic, which can be unsettling to some. He makes up for this by his body language more or less giving off how he's feeling; he'll be animated when he's happy, he'll slouch when he's tired or upset, he generally tries to do something with his hands while he's conversing. A good sign of something being wrong is when he's going out of his way not to let anyone know what he's feeling, which is when he'll be stiff and shut off his body language. ♚ SOUND: (There's no voice acting in Sally Face so this is hard lmao) Sal sounds like a teenage boy, honestly. Much like with his body language he uses his voice to convey emotion to make up for the lack of facial expression. Obviously most people do this but he has to do it consciously and probably plays it up more than what's normal. If he's trying to be encouraging and soothing he'll soften his voice. If he's trying to be stern or if he's joking around his tone will reflect that. According to Steve Gabry Sal has a bit of a raspy voice that is muffled by his mask. ♚ SCENT: He keeps up his hygiene but also gets into a lot of trouble, so once in a while he probably smells like dead body and fear, maybe musk from hanging around old apartments. But mostly he probably just smells like a normal person. ♚ MENTAL INFORMATION: Canonically he has visions of himself in a white room and someone speaking to him backwards, but this could very well be a specific thing in canon and not a general ability. Though he does seem to have an affinity or some connection to ghosts/after life/etc. He does dream from another person's perspective, experiencing a memory theirs as if it were his own, which could possibly be a form of having a vision. I'm willing to explore this for plot/CR purposes! ♚ MAGICAL INFORMATION: This is kind of difficult, but while not explicitly stated in canon it's implied that there's something special about Sal (there are hints that he can't die, for example). He spends a lot of time around ghosts and seems to have an affinity for spirits, so I'll leave this up to player discretion if they want to sense something in him or not. ☄ OOC ♚ BACKTAGGING: Don't worry if something sits too long. I'll backtag forever. ♚ FOURTHWALLING: Sal's canon has a lot of obvious cases of "parody titles" (ex: Edward Shovelhands instead of Edward Scissorhands and that's not a made up example he has a poster of it in his room) so this isn't really a concern. A lot of pop culture references will go right over his head, though I tend to switch it up mostly for OOC purposes (i.e, not recognizing certain super heroes he might encounter in game because in his canon they're a little different). ♚ PHYSICAL AFFECTION: I'm cool with it. Sal isn't super affectionate physically but he'll offer a hug if he sees a friend in pain or if someone comes to him for one. ♚ PHYSICAL VIOLENCE: As long as the act isn't going to cause serious injury then you can go for it - but if it might, just ask me first or give me a head's up! Sal won't fight back, though. He's very anti violence. If his life is in danger that's a different story. While he might try to use his words to calm someone down if it looks like that's hopeless and he might die...well he might try to fight back. Try being a key word. He's small and weak. ♚ RELATIONSHIPS: I'm always okay with the idea of shipping if the chemistry is right and things progress naturally. Sal already has a canonical crush but it's not impossible? He also is terrible at that kind of thing and turns into a bumbling fool so that's two things that will present a problem, lmao. I'm alllwwwaaays open to negative CR. Whether from Sal being antagonized or MY FAVORITE having a huge difference in opinion that might be seen as incredibly extreme to one party while the other doesn't understand the big deal. I don't know, I'm all here for that moral dilemma. ☄ Permissions ♚ DARK THEMES: Sal's canon can be pretty dark. He himself suffers from anxiety and depression, and even takes medication for it. While it's unlikely to come up (maybe once when he realizes the reason why he's slightly worse without access to his medication) PLEEEASE let me know if that's something you don't want mentioned at all! It's a rough and all too relatable subject so don't be afraid to say you don't want any mention of it. I'll also use this spot to mention that he will likely show signs of this sort of thing throughout; so if you're sensitive to that as well let me know and I'll keep that in mind when threading with you. (Or if you want to opt out completely from tagging Sal for that reason, it's totally okay! We're here to have fun!) ♚ BULLYING/PHYSICAL VIOLENCE HISTORY: Sal has a history of getting bullied and being the recipient of physical violence. He was also attacked brutally as a small child. Same as above, let me know if this subject makes you uncomfortable. ♚ GENERAL: Let me know if there's something in general you have a huge "NO" reaction too whether you think it applies to Sal or not! ♚ GHOST STUFF: OH AND ALSO, Sal has weird dreams wherein he relives someone's memory as if it were his own, apparently, so if that's a thing you want to do for CR-plot-thing purposes, I'm down for it! |
